Web Analytics

I have installed and used web analytics on a variety of non-profit, content, and one e-commerce web site. I am a contributor to Google Analytics Test and I am a volunteer with the Analysis Exchange.

  • Completed MarketMotive’s Master Certification Web Analytics course
  • Passed Google Analytics Individual Qualification Certification Test

The client for my most recent Analysis Exchange project wrote the following:

“Contribution: Wendy was great. She seemed to be very hardworking, very open, modest and always willing to point out the limits of her expertise or areas in which she was uncertain – of which there weren’t many. She explained things on a level I could understand and was extremely gracious in providing extra work or information if there was something I didn’t understand.

“Potential to Improve: I don’t really have any suggestions. She was excellent.”

Analytics Exchange

I first became interested in web analytics during the turn of the millennium, when I worked for two different analytics vendors. I sat at my cube looking at my clients’ web sites on my monitor while I talked on the phone with site owners about the results they were experiencing — and how our web analytics software or service might help them make their site more effective.

As a long-time marketer, I’ve had to make many expensive, important decisions about products, messaging, and promotion with insufficient data. In the off-line world, it can be difficult to track the results of a particular campaign or marketing initiative. Information is by no means perfect in the on-line world, but with effective analytics, it can be significantly better. Which is why I really enjoy web analytics and seeing what insights I can discover for my clients.
